Primary Purpose of Position:
This position provides essential clerical and accounting support to the Finance team, performing routine accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation functions that keep the credit union’s day-to-day financial operations running smoothly. Working closely with the Staff Accountants and Senior Staff Accountant, this role helps ensure accurate, timely processing of transactions so that Clean Energy Credit Union can continue delivering trusted clean energy financing to our members.
Essential Functions
- Receives, codes, processes, reviews, and records accounts payable transactions, including checks, ACH, and direct deposits, on a weekly basis; ensures proper approval of expenses prior to disbursement and helps safeguard the credit union’s financial assets from fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Assists with routine monthly and annual financial closings by entering data, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and producing detailed revenue and expense reports; escalates complex issues to the Senior Staff Accountant or Controller as needed.
- Conducts monthly bank statement reconciliations, identifying and addressing discrepancies such as outstanding checks or unrecorded transactions.
- Generates, reviews, and processes invoices and account statements; ensures timely and accurate billing and collections and coordinates with members and vendors to resolve billing discrepancies and answer inquiries.
- Provides day-to-day clerical and administrative support to the Finance team, assisting Staff Accountants and the Senior Staff Accountant with routine accounting tasks as assigned.
- Maintains accurate, organized records to support the Finance team’s internal, external, and regulatory reporting needs.
- Responsible for compliance with all credit union policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the USA PATRIOT Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.

Preferred Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Six months to two years of similar or related accounting or clerical experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft products, including Excel.
- Experience using computers and computer systems for data entry and processing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with mathematical calculations.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
This job operates in a professional office environment in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
- Sedentary computer work with occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
- Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs in an emergency situation.
- Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for extended periods.
